It was fun to bring back the man who lived in “that bush” from episode 101. When Bryan and I were pitching ideas for where Team Avatar could be hiding out after the attack on Air Temple Island, we had this idea that this guy’s bush had a secret hatch into a whole network of tunnels, where a thriving community of like-minded vagabonds lived. He’s never called Gommu in the show, we came up with the name later.
